    European Union leaders and social partners convened in Brussels for the Tripartite Social Summit, focusing on reinforcing  Europe’s position as a competitive and investment-friendly economy amid geopolitical challenges. The summit, held on March 19, 2025, centered on the theme, “Bringing Europe back on track in a challenging geopolitical environment as an attractive, competitive and investment-friendly location that protects and creates quality jobs.” Discussions highlighted the pressing need to strengthen the EU’s economic resilience while addressing the impacts of global instability.

    Key topics included skill development as a means to enhance job quality and maintain the bloc’s competitiveness. Leaders also examined the broader economic effects of geopolitical tensions, notably the war in Ukraine and rising trade tariffs, underscoring the necessity of internal cohesion and strategic alliances with external partners. Participants emphasized investment in public services alongside defense spending as critical to sustaining Europe’s economic model.

    Cohesion policy was also debated as a vital tool for enhancing competitiveness across the EU, ensuring balanced development among member states.
